As a biracial person there is no single, distinguishing cultural or ethnic character to identify with. My current work deals with the multiplicity of identity. Straddling between two worlds creates a constant duality that is at times is both jarring and harmonious. I am seeking balance in life through my work.

I reference cellular structures as a common denominator for all people. Glass, metals, fabric, and plastic are my main staples of material. I feel a kinship to mixed media work. Cultural and emotional implications in color can effect the overall perception of a piece. Red is the mourning color in Cambodian culture. It is used to mourn what cultural connections have been lost. Black and white are used to represent minorities and majorities, respectively. Black and white are also used as contrasting colors to materialize discrepancies between inward and outward emotional conditions. By utilizing specific materials, forms, and colors I strive to find equilibrium within dichotomy.
